Letter 21
Sunday 01.09.13 75 km
It seems to be the grandparents, that have come this morning. The hotel is
apparently only a part
time job that pay a little extra in the summer.
The slippers in the correct position
reach Iwanei and shop food, now I'm heading into the country, where I'm
going to join road 5,
which I left, what seems ages ago. It was the day before yesterday.
No reason why road construction should be boring
I reach it and turns south, not entirely unexpected I have to go over a low
pass to get to Kutchan.
And from Kutchan it once again goes up and down before I reach Niseko. It's
some climbs! I had
thought of going north around Mt. Yate, but as it's cloudy and I never see the
top I change my mind
and therefore I end up in a road station, where Route 66 crosses the 5'er.
Here's a tourist info and I get a map of the area, where there's a camp site
and I get information
on how to get to the caldera lake, Lake Toya, I'm heading for. It's exactly
the roads from Nelles
map. At lake Toya there should be 2 cam,p sites but she doesn't know exactly
where.
When I leave it starts to rain, or rather: I drive into the clouds - and
they're wet. The rain
covers must on even it's "just" a drizzle.
I decide under these circumstances to try to find the local camp site even
it's only a little after 3pm.
You have to go 2 km up the mountain, there are no symbols hinting at tents at
the road, but I find it.
Now it seems the charger for the computer has failed, but I'm still able to
write this.
